Many diatomaceous earth (DE) filters can use either a side mount multi-port valve or a slide valve for backwash purposes. It is recommended to match the manufacturer of the backwash valve to the manufacturer of the pool filter. This will assure the backwash valve will match up to the filter bulkhead connection fittings.
